Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR is a proven technique that has helped people heal from traumatic memories and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder also known as PTSD. The therapy has been used effectively for more than twenty-five years and is an evidence-based treatment.
Clients suffering trauma from combat situations, domestic abuse, rape, childhood abuse, and other environmentally induced traumatic situations are good candidates to benefit from psychotherapy using EMDR.

Often healing from painful memories improves quickly with EMDR. Memories are dampened, which provides an opportunity to recover and heal with less emotion while reprocessing past events. Over time, memories are balanced with more pleasant thoughts and feelings. Clients suffering from trauma and PTSD report feeling calmer and better able to manage situations that normally trigger strong emotions from past events.
Dunham Counseling has several therapists trained in EMDR, including Jeff Lucas, LCPC in our Naperville location; and Erin Cluts, LCSW is level 2 certified in EMDR at our St. Charles office.
